When we lived closer into Houston, I couldn’t wait for Hugs & Donuts to finally open in The Heights. I was also excited when they announced their first Toddler Tuesday class earlier this year on their Facebook page. The children got to decorate different shaped donuts that went along with the book Mouse Shapes. Needless to say, the kids had a blast.
Even though they aren’t currently offering the Toddler Tuesday classes, I was inspired to host my own Donut Decorating play date! I ended up picking up some donuts from Shipley Donuts and making my own frosting using this recipe. Then some of the other moms brought different toppings and the kids went to town.
Did I forget to mention we also made this a Pajamas and Donuts play date? One of the moms in our play group started a Pajamas and Waffles play date and it was a huge hit! The creativity is endless with all of the different toppings you can add. We used cereal, marshmallows, M&M’s, chocolate chips, fruit and of course, sprinkles, for most of our toppings.
Donuts have been blowing on up the internet lately, so here is some more donut inspiration for your next get-together like these donut hole cake pops or adorable coffee sleeve printables. You could also try your hand at hosting a grown-up slumber party or trying these homemade waffle donuts.
Don’t forget to check out some of my favorite donut items for kids either, like the book If You Give a Dog a Donut or these Toddler Pajamas to go along with your next pajama play date. So many donuts, so little time! Where are some of your favorite places to get donuts? You can check out the most recent Best Donut Shops in Houston list as well.
