We made it to Halloween! This has always been my oldest son’s favorite time of year. Even at 6 months old, we bought It’s Pumpkin Day, Mouse! by Laura Numeroff for him, along with a little pumpkin bear for his first Halloween and they quickly became his favorites. Now that he is almost 3 years old, he still loves this book as well as the bear, which is still a member of his bedtime “crew”.
For this Baby Book Club, we decided to meet at The Oil Ranch which turned out to be a blast! There were tons of activities for the kids to do and we made sure to pack a lunch and plenty of snacks, including some pumpkin-shaped PB&J’s and these adorable Babybel Halloween cheeses.
The Oil Ranch is out near Hockley, off of 290 and 2920. The cost for the pumpkin patch was $15.95 per person over 2, but they have a full day’s worth of activities including a jumping pad, petting zoo, pony rides, hay rides and a train.
For our craft, we kept it simple with some stickers and googly eyes for decorating our pumpkins at the pumpkin patch. This book is all about the different faces on each pumpkin, so the kids had a blast making scary, silly and happy faces.
Some of our other favorite Halloween books this year have been Where is Baby’s Pumpkin? which features Lift-the-Flaps, Here Comes Halloween! which is a touch and feel book and Dracula, which is a counting primer by Jennifer Adams. And of course, our new favorite classic this year is Little Blue Truck’s Halloween!
Are Halloween books year-round books for you as well? Hope you all have a Happy Halloween!
